Recipe for Distraction
I sat down for my quiet time today, feeling pretty good about how consistently I had been doing it. After about 30 minutes into it, I stepped back and this is what I saw....
I can easily make some excuses as to why the phones were close by while my little boy was napping and how I use the computer as a biblical resource. While these are true, the picture speaks volumes about how I value my time.
I was spending time with the Lord, only if no other distractions came.
I believe time is one of the most valuable gifts we can give.
I did a photo shoot recently of a woman who dedicates a great deal of her time to others.
She listens to, cares for, and serves people through some of their hardest times, often near the end of their life here on earth.
I cannot imagine doing that.
Imagine if in those desperate moments, she gave them anything other than her full, undivided attention.
This, she told me, is her life verse:
"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58
Lord, I pray that you calm the busy voices inside me, and allow me to be fully devoted to my time with you, and my time with others. Thank you for Karen and for reminding me that time given in Your Name is never wasted or lost. It is instead used quite purposely and intentionally. I love that about you.

How wise you are. You are most certainly right---TIME = LOVE.
Do I wholeheartedly love and desire a relationship with the Lord enough to make time for him? I should. He will meet me where I am.
Bless you Sundee
