Just Deu It
I believe in God. I believe Jesus came and died and rose again to save me from my sin. I'm a Christian.
But, I struggle...
I struggle in just every day life. Everyday, I struggle.
Anger, trying to control, frustration, depression, self-loathing...any one or more of those hit me throughout a given day.
I want peace. I want patience. I want to know what the heck to do in those circumstances to deal with it well.
I knew the answer was wrapped up in knowing God better. If you remember, I asked God to show me how to know Him better. For weeks, actually months, I've been feeling a push to do memory verses. Urgh. It sounds like homework and frankly, I already graduated and earned my degree.

One day, an experienced Godly mother came to talk to a group of us new moms. We needed guidance on raising our kids, maintaining our sanity, and creating not a facade but a real, loving, Christian home. She shared with us how she gets through daily life with her 3 kids. The answer....Scripture. The verses she can recite off of her tongue in any situation are just amazing. No, not because she's a know it all, but because she needed that guidance every day and found it right there in the Bible.
Contained in the hand-out she gave us was a verse about the very thing I felt a push to do...
"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Write these words in the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many..." Deuteronomy 11:18-21a
It was a verse about learning God's Word. Wild.
Above the verse was written, 'Just Deu It'.
Although a little corny, those words stuck out to me like they were the only ones on the page. Ok, Lord, I hear you.
That afternoon, I printed it out and before my perfectionism took over to frame it in something nice and hang it somewhere special, I just put it by my bed.
Each evening before bed and in the morning as I dressed, I went over it. Today, I wrote it above from memory.

It is a start. A great start.
The frustration, anger, and sadness are going to continue to come, but I look forward to being better and better equipped each day to deal with it. Lord, I look forward to getting to know you better. Thank you for your Word. I know it does and it will bring peace.
Just Deu it.
