Ears that can hear

(I committed to do more of these posts, as it is such a joy of mine. My perfectionism, however, gets in my way of completing many of them. I am asking God to help me let that go.)

So, where were we? Interestingly, I have not tried to tie these posts together in the past. But as I reflected on today's, I realized the obvious connection between being 'ready to grow' and today's crop.

'Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears'...
Hah, I just couldn't pass it up. Seriously, though, I am a terrible listener. I have had coworkers and people close to me tell me so.

What, am I afraid if I lend my ears, I won't ever get them back? Ah, there actually is some wisdom in that. I do tend to put the focus of almost every conversation back to me, even if just mentally. What does that make?
Ears that can't hear...not a very bountiful crop.

In order to know someone, you have to spend time with them and listen to them. I truly desire to know God more, and serve Him and others well.

Lord, help me be more righteous in Your eyes than right in my own. Help me to focus on knowing You and others, and open my ears so they can hear.

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
" Psalm 34:15
"Ears that hear and eyes that see --
the Lord has made them both.
"
Proverbs 20:12

So profound for me.
He who has ears, let him hear.

Excellent prayer that rings true for me also. Listening is so important. At times I find myself thinking about what I am going to say rather than when is being said. We have so much to learn from others that we are simply robbing ourselves. Love you.
